JOB TITLE: Cardiac Catherization Technologist

Provides technical assistance to performing physician during diagnostic/interventional cardiac catheterizations, structural heart procedures, and other related procedures. Responsible for direct care of patient during procedure as well as management of hemostasis post procedure. Meets the qualifications to provide care for patients in the specific age range in their assigned laboratory.
Performs duties to provide the highest level of patient care and maximize patient satisfaction.
Works under the supervision of a physician in clinical matters and the Operations Manager, Invasive Cardiac Suite for non-clinical matters. Reports directly to Lead Cardiac Cath Technologist for both clinical and non-clinical matters.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field of science or medicine preferred.
Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program and RCIS exam eligible required.
Knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, electrophysiology, and chemistry required.
Completion of the credentialing process within 6 months of hire.
RCIS or an Associate's degree in healthcare and minimum two years of related experience required.
BLS, ACLS, and PALS certification required.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Work is primarily performed in a clinical environment. Must be able to wear lead x-ray protection apparel.
Must be available for on call duty. Must be able to arrive at Geisinger Medical Center within 30 minutes.
