NHS Human Services, Inc. LPN - Autism School (Harrisburg) - 1 hr/day in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania

NHS is currently seeking an LPN to join our Education and Autism program as School Nurse. This position requires minimal hours but are key the success of providing an exceptional educational experience for our students . If you are a Licensed Practical Nurse with the flexibility to contribute an hour to three hours a day to our amazing students, we would love to hear from you!


Typically 1 hour per day -- lunchtime is ideal

Combination of nearby sites is an option if more hours are desired




The LPN School Nurse is responsible for overseeing the medication distribution and chart management for the students enrolled in our autism and emotional support specialty schools.

Responsibilities include:

  • Understand and implement NHS Human Service's policies and procedures relating to child abuse, standard precautions, incident management/critical event reporting, medication dispensing, storage and safety.

  • Collect and Maintain health records of students.

  • Collaborate with district nurses as needed.

  • Medication Administration as needed.

  • Complete Medication Administration Record Audits.

  • Ensure appropriate doctors' orders for medication are on file.

  • Monitor side effects of medication.

  • Provide literature on side effects of medication.

  • Assessment of self administration of medication.

  • Develop individualized goals in order to increase independence with self administration of medication.

  • Develop medical trainings as needed.

  • Participate in Performance Quality Improvement.

  • Communicate with co-workers and supervisors in a timely manner of situations that affect student care or well being.


  • Must have current Pennsylvania LPN licensure

  • Experience with children with autism is preferred
